A class action lawsuit alleged that Fidelity Investments failed to prevent a data breach between August 17 and August 19, 2024, that allegedly compromised consumers' financial account numbers and routing numbers. Plaintiffs contended the breach could have been prevented had Fidelity taken reasonable cybersecurity precautions that were available to it. Eligible class members may receive the following compensation, though actual amounts will depend on the number of valid claims submitted and available settlement funds: (1) up to $5,000 in reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket monetary losses related to the breach, provided you supply qualifying supporting documentation; (2) an estimated $100 pro rata cash payment regardless of documented losses; (3) an additional estimated $50 payment for California residents who qualify under the California Consumer Privacy Act; and (4) two years of identity theft protection and credit monitoring services, which may include up to $1 million in fraud and identity theft insurance coverage. Individual payouts are not guaranteed and may vary.
