A class action lawsuit alleged that certain refrigerators manufactured by Whirlpool and sold under the Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, and JennAir brand names are defective due to an alleged 'wire harness issue' that may cause the ice maker, ice dispenser, water dispenser, and/or control panel to fail. Consumers allegedly incurred out-of-pocket costs to repair or replace their refrigerators as a result of this alleged defect. Whirlpool has not admitted any wrongdoing but has agreed to settle the claims. This page is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice.
Eligible claimants may receive one of the following forms of relief, depending on their individual circumstances: (1) an estimated cash payment of between 30% and 75% of documented out-of-pocket costs paid for repairs or replacements related to the alleged defect; (2) up to 50% of the original purchase price for unrepaired defects; or (3) a repair of their defective refrigerator. Actual payout amounts are not guaranteed and will depend on the specific details of your claim, available documentation, and the terms of the settlement. The total settlement amount has not been publicly disclosed.
